Outside Reading post 5

Its been another week so another blog post it is almost a long weekend I cant wait for this week to be over and for summer to start, this weekend means the pools are opening and school is coming to a close. I have been reading my outside reading book and they are really good. so in the book that i have been reading now Mia was just told that her mother is pregnant with her math teachers baby, and now they are getting married, but if that wasnt enough her grandmother is forcing her to do a Tv interview that she would rather die then do, well Mia your dream might come true because you are now sick with a fever. the only bad thing about being sick is missing all this school, and now Mia has a secret admirer, and now she wants to break being sick so she can be a school so she can meet her secret admirer. so Mia has been sick for about a week and now she is guessing that her secret admirer might be her best friends brother which is making her freak out because Mia thinks that he is so cute and is wishing that he is her secret admirer. well this is were i ended in the book I cant wait to find out who is actually mia secret admirer because if it is actually Lily brother it would be so great because Mia has gone through so much and this would actually be a good thing cause Mia will finally be happy.

Outside Reading post 4

Now i am on to book number 2, and woah this book is so crazy Mia has a secret admirer and now Mia found out that her mother is pregnant with her math teacher!!! I think that if i found out that my mother was pregnant when i was a teenager i would freak but i would go crazy if i found out that my mother was pregnant with her boyfriend, who was also my math teacher i would never know what to do i think that i would go crazy with all the drama. So now Mia has one more thing to add to her list on why she is so weird, but now she had to deal with making sure that there appartment is safe for a new baby. But with all of this Mia grandmother is planning a tv interview for Mia on the show 24/7 which by the way Mia want no part in filming she could a perfectly normal 14 year old girl living in New York and could just go to school and be her own person. Well because of the new baby MIa is gaining a new brother or sister, a new step father, because yes Mia's mother and her math teacher are getting married before the baby comes. I can already tell that this book is going to be full of lot of suprises and and big things to come. I cant wait to keep reading the book to find out what happens next.

Outside Reading post 3

I finally finished the book it was so good I didnt expect what was going to happen. So lana and Josh Broke up, which was really strange because they were the ideal High School couple and then the other big shocker was Josh asked Mia to go to the Cultural Diversity Dance, this was a big deal for Mia because she has had a huge crush on josh for the longest time, and when he asked her to the dance Mia thought that her dreams were coming true. If i was Mia i think that this would be so amazing because of what has been going on in her past with finding out that she is a princess, and her mother is dating her math teacher. The whole idea that her life was finally changing, and is getting better. Well Mia you were wrong,  josh was using you for publicity so that he could kiss her and get in to the paper. It must be hard for Mia to find people who actually care for her and are not using her to gain things for themselves. It must be hard because you never know who to really trust. I feel bad or Mia because yes she is a Princess, but being a princess, is not always that great because you have to work hard to keep a normal life going.

Outside Reading post 2

So as i left of Mia was going crazy with the idea that she is a princess, and her father the Prince has to bribe her to go to her Princess lessons, being held by her least favorite person her Grandmere. So as of right now Mia has found out that her mother is dating her Math teacher. I could never even try to think of what Mia is going through she is a 14 year old girl who just found out that she is a princess, and now her mother is dating her math teacher, and the best part is that Mia is failing math. I would just try think  what Mia is feeling I could never want to go through what Mia is going through I would maybe want to be a princess but having my mother dating my math teacher that would not be good because math is my least favorite class and that would just be so akward. Mia has to go through many hardships that she lashes out in only a few ways when she has just had too much, when she lashes out it is usually harmless but ocasionally she will go too far like when she spilt ice cream all over lana other least favorite person. Im so close to the end of the book and I am really enjoying the style of writing that meg cabot. the journals really lets you know what Mia is feeling I cant wait to finish the book.

Princess Diaries

I started reading the Meg Cabot book Princess Diaries. The book is about a girl my age (mia) who learns that the is the heir to a small country in Europe. I really enjoy they way how Cabot has written this book from the point of view of mia through her journal entries. I think that you really get to know the character because you are reading what she is really feeling and what she doesnt want to know. You get to read how Mia feels when she finds out her dad cant have anymore children and she is the heir to the throne. (big shocker). Mia can finally put all the pieces together about why her father was always under protection, or why she spent the summers in her familys fancy chateau in France. I think the highlight of the book that I have read so far is when Mia has to take " princess Lessons" from her grandmother who she well lets say dislikes and Mia's father the prince has to bribe her for her to go. I think this shows how much Mia doesn't want to be a Princess, while any other girl my age whould go crazy thinking it was a cinderella story or a fairytale, but Mia wants no part of it. Im excitted to find out what happens next in the book because once you start reading it is really hard to put the book down.

The second live octuplets born in U.S. history doing 'very well' and breathing on their own

almost spring break I  cannot wait for this week to be over!  So this weekend I got to go to Winter Weekend in Lutsen and it was so much fun. This was an article I saw on the news and then looked it up in the star tribune. The story is about a family in California who had octuplets I thought this was so cool because its the 2nd time in U.S. HIstory that 8 children have survived, I think that it must have been a shock to the parents and the doctors because they were only 7 babies, and their were 8. I also think that this is amazing because all of the babies are doing really well they are all breathing on their own, this must seem amazing to the mother because I woulg guess that the odds wo9uld be really low for all of the babies to be doing this well but, all I can say is I hope that they keep imporving and the parents stay strong.

If You Skip the 7 Swans, the Lords Look Affordable

PEOPLE WITH DEEP POCKETS THESE DAYS IS HARD TO FIND, DURING THESE HARD ECONOMIC TIMES, AND WHEN THAT HAVE MONEY THEY SPEND WHAT THEY HAVE ON THE PEOPLE WHO THEY LOVE. WHEN YOU ARE A LITTLE GILR ALL YOU THINK ABOUT IS WHEN YOU GROW UP AND YOU GET TO HAVE YOU BIG SPECIAL WEDDING AND EVERYONE GET TO SEE HOW HAPPY YOU ARE AND DOVES ARE ALL THAT YOU THINK ABOUT WHEN YOU ARE LITTLE BECAUSE THEY SEEM SO PERFECT AND THAT IS THE THING THAT IS GOING TO MAKE YOUR DAY SPECIAL AND WHAT TRUE LOVE REPRESENTS WHEN YOU ARE LITTLE IS THE SWANS. YOU THINK THAT THEY WILL MAKE YOU SPECIAL DAY EVEN BETTER, ALL THEY DO IS REPRESENT LOVE AND HOW YOU WANT TO MAKE EVERYTHING SPECIAL. DOVES ARE THE THINGS THAT LET YOU BELIEVE IN FARIRY TALES WHEN YOU ARE LITTLE AND THEY ALLOW YOU TO DREAM BIG.

With Local Control, New Troubles in Iraq

Its good to know that the war in the Middle east is doing some good, we all know that the war is draining lots of money out of the treasury and many people are getting killed but it is also doing help in the Middle East. The Iraqis are trying to doing well in working to improve their governments, but in the past their have been more horror stories then happy endings. People are still getting hurt everyday and some people are afraid to do everyday things because of the danger outside. I hope that what we are doing in Iraq is the right thing but as we have seen in the past when other people with different cultures go into new lands it doesn't always turn out the best people get hurt, because they don't like the new ideas of the people coming into their lands. Our government has to decide if the pros out way the cons of being in  a war with another country when all we want to do is help them.

A Survival Imperative for Space Colonization

We all think when we are little that we are going to live in space or that we will fly into space some day but now. If you think about it we have done some amazing things in space, we landed on the moon, we built a space station in space, we sent robots to mars. Sooner or later we will be able to live in space either on the moon or in orbit around the earth. I think that at this day and age we should be able to live in space soon but it has been shown that if you spend to much time in space it is hard on your body because your bone density decreases, and you don't get proper exercise because their is little or no gravity on the moon or in space. i hope that some day I will get the chance to go into space but if that doesn't happen in our lifetime i know that it will happen soon.

Global Warming

You all hear that the world is coming to an end that the polar ice caps are melting and all of the animals are having troubles with the new climate changes. The reasons that the global warming has become so prominent issue is that the ocean is 2/3 of our planet and the world is a place that we need to take care of for the people of the future. I believe that this is a real problem that we have to deal with in the article it was claimed that by 2010 the oceans will rise by 7-23 inches. if you think about that the amount of water extra water that would come of that would be grand, I cant even think about how much water would come, or what is going to happen to all the animals that live on the polar ice caps, and in 3 years the place that they call their home is gone.

Across Differing Faiths, Shared Holidays

Their are families in these times in age that have multi religious families with one parent who believes in a religion and another parent who believes in another religion. I think that it is great that people are being more free about their religions and are sharing them with different people of different faiths. Now that parents who believe in different faiths with their children so that they can see both sides of their parents religions and not have to choose only one of their parents religions. when both religions in the family are equal they get to have the best of both world and get to celebrate both religious holidays.

India Celebrates a Hollywood Victory

Before when I thought of India i would never think of Bollywood I would only think of their amazing food and the Taj Mahal, but after the movie Slumdog Millionair I have now seen that their are some amazing movies that have come out of India. It was publicly shown that India has some great movies and actors. During the award seasons this year people from India were not stepping down in the movie business. They are not going to back down now they have worked really hard to get to were that are now and they will do whatever possible ti keep Bollywood as a good movie region of the world!

At Harvard, Students’ Muslim Traditions Are a Topic of Debate

When I think of Muslim Women I usually think of them wearing the traditional clothes of their religion. so I believe that it was a good idea for Harvard to allow different gym hours for women and men. I think that it is a good and bad thing to do because the muslim women get to work out in the gym in the privacy of being in a women only facility. But their have been a few complaints to this new policy, people have said that the women get the peak gym hours and women are not coming the gym is just sitting almost empty. Also some of the upperclassmen are feeling annoyed because their main and best gym is being let to the other gender and they have no input, in the situation. I think that it was idea to give the women different gym hours away from men to respect the muslim traditions, but their should have done it a little different to comply with everyone.

Climate of Change

The elections are finally over and we have a new president in office. President Obama is the first African American President. I think that these next 4 years are going to be full of change with a new Democratic President in office and a new face for our country. With a new President we get new promises to be upheld. Like pulling us out of Iraq, and giving people better rights. I hope that with our new President we have a whole new change for this country, and i know some people are angry that the person who they wanted to be president didnt get chosen but they have to deal with this new political office and hope for the best. That is what i am doing now because our last President did his best but his best wasn't his best to provide for our country. I believe that in this day and age that with new leadership that we can change for the better and make your country better.

Vitamin Pills: A False Hope?

So for this blog post I had to read about an article about hope, so I looked at the NY Times and found this article about false hope in vitamins. In this article they talked about how americans spend so much money on dietary supplements that do not always work, and people say that taking vitamins will help reduce this and that, but in recent tests the finding are that vitamins are not doing much at all. It has also been told that your body needs those essential nutrients that you would normally not get in your average meal, so vitamins would help but not all the hype that has been told about them like being able to stop or prevent cancer or other major health issues. So all I have to say is that vitamins will help with the running of your body, but it will not prevent some of the huge health risks.

How India Reconciles Hindu Values and Biotech

So for this blog post I read the article from the New York Times, and it showed the people who follow the Hindu religion believe the life begins at conception. In their religion they believe that fetuses can hear and understand everything that is going on around them. I think that it is very interesting that they believe a story that has been told about Arjuna and he told his wife about his seven stage military plan while she was listening to everything the fetus was also listening to the story, the sad part is when the mother falls asleep during the 7th and final stage to his plan, so when the child was older he was in battle and didn't know that last stage in battle and dies. I thin that the Hindu Religion is very interesting to learn about because it is like Christianity but also so different.

Gender Roles

Well for this weeks blog we had to write about gender specefic roles. I didnt really get the topics so I looked it up on Wikepedia. the article was very helpful in telling me about the issues in gender roles. I found out that a gender role is a role that is specified to one specefic gender. I thought that it was very inciteful because they really showed that how back in the day gender roles were really highly used. you would have been told that dad goes to work all day long and mom would be doing the laundry and cleaning the house all day. I am so glad that in these days the workplace is now accepting to allowing new poeple into their work envoronment.

French Museums Free for Under-25

If you have ever been to France or even Europe you know that the arts there are amazing, but with the great arts comes a price, the fee to get in to some of the museums is crazy if you think about it, it works out because of the prices of some of theses masterpieces. But due to a new plan by the French President he is allowing all people under the age of 25 to be able to enter all museums for free. I think that this plan is amazing because the art lovers are becoming younger and younger. I wish that here in america the museums are free or at least at a discount because when you are young you dont always have the money to be able to go to these great museums!

Cancer Survivors Struggle to Find Jobs, Study Finds

I believe that this article shows how hard some people have it after they have had to face such a terrible disease, that have already gone through so much and now that have to face the hardships at finding a new job. After they have spent so much money on getting the treatments that they need to survive they have to deal with not being able to find a job to pay the bills. I think that the situation that some of these people have to go through is terrible because that have already been through so much and now they cant even find a job. Now people who cant get a job either get major amounts of debt, or have to declare for bankruptcy.

Remote and Struggling, but Still a Bit of America

So for this blog on a natural disaster I read an article about a small town in Alsaka. In Alaska it is really hard to get around because of the high mountains, and the large land area. The people in this small village are all couped up and new people rarely visit them. The tradegy that hit this small town is people are leaving becasue the prices are so much more because the cost of bringing the essential items to their towns is so high. The people of these small towns are having troubles because the future popululation of their towns are more intersted with the newest ipod thant the well being of their town.

Obama heads jubilant parade to White House, first black president to take the oath of office

Wow today was amazing, I didn't get to see the swearing in because of an accident made by a student in my world class by exiting out of the video, but I did get to see the speech made by our new PRESIDENT!!! I felt that his speech was so moving and he really made a connection to everyone in the audience. Also I thought that it was so amazing that only 40 years ago, a person ran for president with segregation as his platform, and now we have the FIRST African American President. I think that it is so amazing that our country has come full circle in the past years. I cant wait to see what will happen next with the new President!

Today after school I read an article from the Usa today. It was about the artic colds covering the midwest. Here in MInneapolis I am feeling the cold. today driving to school the temp in the car was -20, I couldn't believe that the weather had gooten to be so cold. I thought today of all days we should have had a snow day because the weather was terrible, there was at least 2 inches of snow on the ground it felt like -50 with the wind. I felt so bad for all thoes children who were waiting for the bus. I hope that if it is anything like this or worse tomorow we should have a snow day. We deserve it!

Another cruise ship jumper rescued at sea

It happened again, why are people jumping off cruise ships. When I think of a cruise I think a nice relaxing vacation, not a place of death. Luckily this time the man was rescued. The person who jumped off the ship was a 22 year old man. He was rescued by a member of the ships staff who saw him jump. The man was rescued by having the mamber off the staff sound the alarm, making the ship turn around to bring him back to safety. I dont get why someone would want to kill themself while on vacation but it is their choice in what they want to do with their life, Im just thankfull that the man is ok.

Taylor Lautner to Return as Jacob in New Moon, Twilight Sequel!

I was reading an article in 17 magazing about who is going to be cast in the New Moon which is part of the Twilight series. I found out that Taylor Lautner will return to the next movie and play the role of Jacob. In this article I also found out that this movie is set to be released on 11/20. Also in the article i found out that the author had said that some of the actors who played the previous character may not come back because the characters in the book are going through many changes so don't be too shocked when the trailer comes out and the actors who you have come to love may not be in the new movie. I can not wait untill New Moon comes out Im so excited.

In the article they had little bios about all of the books and they all sound good so i think i am most likely going to read at least one or most of these books. I cant wait to do to the book store to get these books.

Bored to Eat

Happy new year!!!! Hope everyone is having a good break well sometime over the break I got an email from Cosmo Girl about a study that happened and people a now becoming Bored and this triggers people to eat. They had 4 rules or tips to find out if you get bored to eat. I think that people could actually get bored to eat, because when you are not stimulated you find something to do and for you that may be eating. I think for some people if you dont get problems under control this could lead to lots of other problems later on like heart disease or diabetes.
